207.8
This number means progress. I have been diligent in efforts to win the bet against my buddy Darin. If you've been reading my blog, you are aware that I'm still aiming to weigh less than 200 pounds by the end of December 31, 2006. For some of you, this still doesn't sound light. But I do feel like I am in better shape than I have been for the past few months.
My worst time (in terms of weight) was in June/July of this summer. I was having too good of a time in Italy, France and England. I also ate carbs all day long. Bread and croissants for breakfast. Spagetti and ravioli for lunch. A four course meal for dinner. By the time I returned from Europe, I weighed an all time high of 222 lbs! Yeah, that's crazy fat, not phat! I'm still amazed at how Italian women can be so friggin beautiful every day, while eating such a high carb diet? (Shoot, the average woman in Italy is an 8 of 10 on the beauty scale! That's super beautiful compared to women in the US.)
I knew I had to drop some pounds as soon as I returned home. I got back into my workout scheme in July and since October 13, I've adopted a new approach toward eating. My close friend, nicknamed "Stevil", has given me good advice about diet and exercise. He said that these changes that I have chosen to adopt are not just temporary, but rather changes in lifestyle. Most people are afraid to change In October, I weighed 213 pounds and Stevil and Darin made a bet as to whether I could drop below 200 by December 31. I think I'm on track. I just need to keep up my exercise.
Stevil asked me what my ultimate goal is in diet and exercise. He said the goal should represent not just numbers, but rather the change in lifestyle. I had to meditate upon this question for a while. (Deep down, I want to marry a beautiful Italian woman! just kidding!) To understand Stevil, he is a well educated (MBA) and successful professional, who claims that his greatest life accomplishment is transforming his body from a scrawny 135 lbs to a muscular 155 lbs. He's pumped up and proud of his "guns". Stevil made one comment that kinda stuck in my head, "G.E., you don't have much vanity. For a guy who's accomplished so much in life, you don't have vanity. You NEED vanity to lose weight. You've got to want to look good!"
I do not have much vanity compared to most guys. I don't kiss my biceps, much less my "man boobs". In fact, I'd have to say that my physique is probably my biggest insecurity. But after thinking about Stevil's comments, I realized that what I truly want is to tell a beautiful girl that I think she is beautiful, and for her to feel likewise about me and see me as physically compatible with her. I know that sounds weird. But I truly believe that a girl chooses a guy who matches her beauty or makes her look even more beautiful. If I cannot make myself beautiful, I don't believe that a beautiful girl will put on her "beer goggles" and just fall in love with me.
Of course, I'll be happy to look good and dress nicely. Of course, I will feel more confident going to the beach. I really want to walk around with no shirt, flex my pecs, and just tempt some girls to look my way! Hahahah! But for now, I'm just going to make my numbers and win the bet! Winner gets free tickets to a Golden State Warriors vs. Houston Rockets game!
Wish me luck and keep me accountable if you eat with me!!!!!!!!
PS- my lowest weight measured recently has been 206.6 (after working out and taking a major dump! hahahhah!!!)
